Ortigas sits at an interesting intersection — towers full of BPO workers, a handful of major malls, and residential pockets that have been here far longer than the office buildings surrounding them. Dining in the area is shaped by that mix. Mall food courts and restaurant floors carry the volume, offering reliable mid-range options that work for a quick lunch or a family dinner without much fuss. But look beyond the atrium interiors and you find smaller independent places along the side streets of Kapitolyo, a compact community that has developed into one of the more interesting neighborhood dining clusters in the metro over the past decade. Kapitolyo in particular rewards an evening walk — the streets are tight, the signage is often understated, and the cooking ranges from traditional Filipino to whatever the current owners happen to be passionate about.
